21 Netflix Halloween Movies in 2017 that Are Worth It |Film-ish

Netflix has been cracking out the hits in the month of October. With a solid lineup of horror films, Netflix has been a spooky source for movie lovers over the month of October. In this post we’ll look at some of the top picks for Netflix Halloween movies in 2017.

1. 1992

In this story, a farmer plots the murder of his wife in order to make money, and he ropes in his teenage son to help him out. Wilfred and Henry quickly descend into madness as they carry on with their lives. Unsettling to say the least. You won’t jump or scream at every scene like in most horror films.

Despite the fact that it’s a slow-burner, this is refreshing because of how tedious and repetitive the pacing is. Additionally, the story of ‘1922’ is far too character-driven to be enjoyable as is. If you’re looking for Netflix Halloween Movies in 2017, this is a good choice. It’s still a good watch!

2. The Babysitter

I know a movie will be good when I see Samara Weaving in it. I mean look at Guns Akimbo? Anyway, Cole, 12, discovers that his babysitter belongs to a murderous teen satanic cult after learning this information from her. Cole must put aside his feelings for his babysitter and flee from his captors before they use him as a human sacrifice.

This movie isn’t a slow burn. It’s quick, exciting, and shocking. I wasn’t expecting to see a lot of killing when I watched The Babysitter two years ago, in fact, I didn’t know its genre back then.

But I’m glad and wasn’t disappointed. Looking for one of the best Netflix Halloween Movies in 2017? Yup! This one is your best bet.

3. Gerald’s Game

Netflix Halloween movies in 2017

A woman accidentally kills her husband during foreplay. They had driven out to a remote area in an attempt to reignite their flailing relationship. Handcuffed to the bed, she soon becomes delirious.

It is a rare movie that surpasses its original source material. There aren’t many films based on Stephen King books that manage to outdo the original in terms of creativity. Gerald’s Game, a Netflix original film, is one such example. This is one of the scariest Netflix Halloween Movies in 2017.

4. Veronica

I don’t get why teenagers won’t just stay the fuck away from Ouja boards.

A group of teenage girls plan to use a Ouija board to communicate with the deceased spirit of the girl’s father during a solar eclipse. However, she goes into a coma during the session, and it’s soon obvious that demonic forces have taken over.

Despite the fact that it’s not “the scariest film ever made,” Verónica is still quite frightening, and it contains some particularly well-executed haunted house imagery.

5. Little Evil

Netflix Halloween movies in 2017

Imagine marrying the love of your life only to discover her son might be the son of the devil? This movie is just a watch! I’m serious.

It’s funny and fast-paced.

6. The House of the Witch

Remember when I said I don’t get teenagers and Ouija boards? Well, add abandoned houses to the list. What is it with teenagers and abandoned houses?

There’s one thing about abandoned houses—there’s always danger lurking somewhere. That’s the case of four teenagers that visited an abandoned building during Halloween. Sadly, they are trapped and must find a way to break out of the witch’s house.

7. Ravenous

An outbreak of a flesh-eating plague terrorizes a remote village in upstate Quebec, turning the bodies of its victims against their loved ones while those who can flee to the woods do so.

8. The Ritual

Four college friends set out on a hiking trip after the untimely death of one of them. When they take a wrong turn, they find themselves in the mythical Norse forests, where an ancient evil lurks and threatens them at every turn.

9. Creep 2:

A video artist who craves shocking stories realises she has made a mistake when she meets a serial killer in a cabin.

10. Cargo

This one is about a man who is stranded in a village in Australia after surviving a pandemic. Sadly, there’s no certainty he’s gonna be human for long. He’s been infected and plans to protect his infant from his own changing nature.

11. The Bye Bye Man

Netflix Halloween movies in 2017

Honestly, this one is my favorite of all the Netflix Halloween Movies in 2017.

From time to time, people have committed so many atrocities that are unexplainable. To the neighbor next door, it’s just a person who went nuts and killed his whole family.

That’s until three college students stumble upon the horrific origins of the Bye Bye Man. Now they know people don’t just go crazy and kill their whole family. They know someone drove them crazy. They are victims themselves and they would try everything in their power to beat the bye bye man.

12. Death Note

I really had a good time watching this one. It’s about a teenager who stumbles on a book that can kill someone, all he has to do is write their names on the book. Things go south when the police link the deaths to him. Now he has to take out the demon.

13. Tales of Halloween

This one is a combination of ten stories about ghosts, ghouls, monsters, the devil, aliens, and axe murderers who hunt down people on Halloween night.

14. Boys in the Trees

On their last day of high school, Corey and Jonah, two unhappy teenagers, reluctantly find themselves walking home together on Halloween 1997. While burying their past, they set out on a journey through their memories, dreams, and anxieties.

15. Pay the Ghost

When Mike Cole’s son is kidnapped from a Halloween parade, his world is turned upside down. Mike is willing to do anything to get his son back, even if it means delving into a terrifying supernatural mystery.

16. Sleepy Hollow

Ichabod Crane, a police detective, is sent from the city of New York to Sleepy Hollow to investigate a series of murders committed by the Headless Horseman.

17. Fear street

I’ve watched Dear street three times and as much as it wasn’t released in 2017, I would still recommend this ge

It’s a story about a series of murders that has plagued a small town for centuries. A lot of people believe it’s a curse, but that’s until a teenage girl finds herself in the cross hairs of numerous, dead serial killers. She must find out why they’ve come back to life and how to stop this curse for good.

18. Under the shadow

After Shideh’s building is hit by a missile during the Iran-Iraq War, a superstitious neighbour suggests that the missile was cursed and might be carrying malevolent Middle-Eastern spirits.

19. I Am The Pretty Thing That Lives in the House

When a young traveling nurse moves into an old rural house to care for an elderly patient, strange things begin to happen.

In order to fully appreciate I Am The Pretty Thing That Lives in the House, you must be aware of the film’s incredibly slow pace. But it’s well worth it.

20. IT

It’s a story about a group of kids who were constantly bullied in school. Things get ugly for them when one of the group loses his brother and is set out to find the truth.

The rest of the group helps in solving the mystery but they begin to experience the things they fear the most.

21. A Dark Song

For six months, a mysterious occult ritual is performed in a large house rented by an introverted woman in rural England. It’s not my favorite, that’s why I pushed it down the list but you should give it a try. Who knows? You might love it.

I hope you enjoyed this post about Netflix Halloween movies in 2017. This is definitely a topic that’s worth checking out if you’re trying to find movies to watch this Halloween season. If you’re interested in other Halloween lists then this children’s Halloween movie recommendation is a bomb!
