The Hype Around You Netflix Series Is Totally Understandable, Here’s Why

A lot of people raved about the You Netflix series but I had my doubts. I questioned people’s views and wondered if this show was all that. To be sincere, this Netflix series is superb.

This story follows the life of a lunatic, Joe Goldberg who enjoys stalking women. No, he doesn’t just pick women randomly… The moment he thinks you’re striking and he falls in love with you, then you’re doomed.

Let’s meet the characters:

1. Joe Goldberg:

8. Forty Quinn:

Love’s beloved and troubled twin brother.

9. Candace Stone:

10. Delilah Alves:

Ellie’s older sister, an investigative reporter.

The first season follows the story of Joe Goldberg, a bookstore manager in New York, who met Guinevere Beck an aspiring writer in his bookstore, and immediately becomes infatuated with her. He feeds his toxic obsession using social media and other technology to track her presence and remove obstacles to their romance. And when I say obstacles, I mean Beck’s playboy boyfriend. Joe lures the guy, imprisoned him in a basement, gets enough information about Beck then kills him.

Sincerely, I didn’t give a flying fuck about Beck’s bf. I can’t even remember his name… It’s that bad.

But you know how obstacles work, right? The moment Beck’s friends meet Joe they had a lot to say about him especially Peach, played by Shay Mitchell. Peach thinks Beck deserves better and shouldn’t be with a “bookseller.” Joe soon picks on Peach’s resentment towards him. He sets out to get Peach out of the way.

Well, Peach isn’t such a good friend per se; she stalks Beck too.

“Sadly,” after Joe kills Peach, Beck starts to drift away from him. She’s still traumatized by her friend’s death and starts seeing a psychologist help her. Beck is soon drawn to the psychologist and starts an affair with him and breaks up with Joe.

Joe “picked” pieces of his heart and moves on to another woman but it doesn’t last long when he stumbles on Beck. Finally, he breaks up with his current girlfriend and begins dating Beck again, that is until poor Beck finds the trophies he keeps after killing his victims.

In the second season, Joe Goldberg moves from New York to Los Angeles to escape his past and starts over with a new identity. When he meets avid chef Love Quinn, Joe begins falling into his old patterns of obsession and violence. As Joe attempts to forge a new love in the City of Angels, he strives to make his relationship with Love succeed at all costs to avoid the fate of his past romantic endeavors.

Here are reasons why you should watch You Netflix Series:

1. It’s not every time you get to watch films like this from the perspective of the stalker.

2. It’s not a total horror or psychological thriller. Just in-between with suspenseful scenes.

3. There is a lot of drama in this series.

4. You learn to watch put for some signs.
